the Bandit Masters 2017 Tour Results |
| Vannes was again the venue
for the 2017 tour. The weather was mixed but the food, beer and
wine was as good as ever. As always, there was much debate about
handicaps at East Ilsley especially as some of the Bandits had only
played a handful of games since the last tour. The opening day at the new course of Cicé-Blossac near Rennes was an indicator of things to come with Mike having a stunning opening round with a super-bandit score of 43 points. However, the next day Tom went on to achieve hyper-banditry with an amazing round of 46 points - the highest score in tour history. Other than the two mega-bandits, Rex had a good couple of rounds and was looking a real contender. Unfortunately, in the early hours of day 3, Rex was admitted to Vannes hospital which ended his title chances all too early. Other than the odd visit from the bandits, the only thing that kept his spirits-up was been looked after by some delightful French nurses. It blew a gale on day 3 at St Laurent, with horizontal rain at times, which resulted in much lower scores. Under the conditions Mike managed a creditable 27, taking a couple of points from Tom, the day 2 leader. The final round at Barden was the clincher, where Mike gained further points to win the championship by 3. Congratulations to Mike who adds his name to the Bandit Masters trophy for the first time. Other achievements of note in 2017 were Luddy, who despite a respectable third place, had the partners to lose €23 and Rex who managed to be tour money winner with only playing two rounds! |
