Welcome to the Bandit Masters 2011 |
| The historic
town of Vannes,
in Southern Brittany, was the base for the 2011 Bandit
Masters tour. Stableford only scoring was used for the first time this year which was well received by all. This relieved the pressure when scoring a 10 and made for a faster round, as there was no need to putt-out when scoring a "blob" (no more 6 foot give-me's). The late September weather was good, but was the golf? Well yes and no. Scores this year were not as impressive as last, but one bandit in particular certainly made an impression on the last day....... |
Predictably the wooden putter was presented to Windy. However, with one
bandit
doing the
unthinkable and not completing the tour, the disgrace of carrying the
wooden
putter until next year as was immediately passed to Luddy.
In reverse order, division one was Martin, followed by Tom. Going into
the final
day Mike was the odds-on favourite. Leading Luddy by 9 shots,
surly the
Bandit Masters title was his! But NO!! Mike produced a
creditable round
of 32 points at Ploemeur Ocean, but Luddy, on a course he had never
played
before, managed to score an incredible 44 points! Yes that’s 8 under
par!! This
left a rather miffed Mike in second place, beaten by a 12 shot swing to
lose by
3. As if we didn't already know, Luddy is the ultimate Bandit
Master!
